Service-business operating guide

Sales playbook template for a service-business team

A sales playbook is an internal reference for how a team handles recurring selling situations. Use this original template to coach decisions, keep instructions current and make exceptions visible.

Build a short reference your team can use

Start with six headings: customer situations; supported offer; discovery questions; approved evidence; exception owners; practice cases. Link to authoritative service and commercial documents rather than copying terms into several competing versions.

Add a document owner and effective date. The playbook should help an employee find the right instruction during preparation or coaching. It need not prescribe every sentence of a conversation.

Write one situation card

Fictional situation: a customer compares two estimate scopes. The card identifies the two current versions, the differences the salesperson may explain, the questions requiring an estimator and the evidence needed for the next step.

Include a “do not assume” line: requested timing is not confirmed capacity. Include an escalation role when a customer asks for an unapproved change. This makes the reference more useful than a collection of persuasive phrases.

Attach practice and feedback

Create a fictional case in which the customer changes a requirement halfway through the discussion. Ask the salesperson to identify the change, stop using the superseded scope and refer the revision correctly.

Give feedback on observable behavior: the correct version referenced, the unresolved issue recorded and the next owner named. Avoid ranking staff with an invented performance score or treating a practice call as measured customer behavior.

Review the playbook when the offer changes

Assign someone to replace obsolete references and identify affected situation cards. Record what changed and which team members need the revised instruction. A training session does not establish that an old shared document was removed.

A phone script supplies wording; this playbook supplies internal decisions and coaching references. Revo’s Services and Pricing describe answering. No sales-training product or autonomous negotiation capability is implied.

Common questions

Make the next step clear.

Resolve the details that matter to your team and callers.

Is this a customer-facing proposal?

No. It is an internal operating and coaching reference; the sales deck is a separate customer-facing document.

Must every employee use identical wording?

Keep required facts and boundaries consistent while allowing wording that fits the customer’s actual question.

Keep the playbook short, owned and connected to the current offer.
