Ability Answering Service: Budget Beyond the Introductory Offer
Ability Messaging is a live answering provider whose website explicitly includes contractors, HVAC, plumbing and repair businesses. Its advertised introductory offer deserves a closer reading before a service office uses it as an ongoing budget.

What the advertised offer establishes
Ability Messaging’s homepage displays an offer of $115 for unlimited service with two months free. Its footnote says the offer is valid for 90 days and that the rate afterward is based on call traffic. The offer also mentions bilingual English/Spanish agents and coverage when needed.
That wording does not establish a $115 monthly recurring price, the exact payment schedule during the introductory period or the post-introductory rate. Do not multiply a presumed monthly amount or subtract two presumed monthly payments to manufacture a total. Ask for a dated written proposal that explains how the advertised amount, free service and 90-day period fit together.
The word “unlimited” also needs a purchased scope. It should not be treated as evidence that every administrative task, transfer, recipient or account change is included without conditions.
Build an introductory-to-ongoing budget bridge
A plumbing office can have quiet weeks followed by a cold-weather surge. An introductory amount may be useful, but it will not tell the office what its next busy period costs after the introductory terms end.
Use this worksheet with Ability’s actual proposal. Leave unknown amounts blank until the provider supplies them.
| Budget field | Record from the written offer | Decision it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Activation date | Date service and any offer clock begin | Establish the actual introductory window |
| Advertised payment | What the $115 purchases and when it is due | Avoid assuming a monthly unit |
| Free-service period | Which dates or charges the two free months cover | Separate free service from waived usage or fees |
| Included work | Call types, language needs and permitted agent actions | Determine what “unlimited” covers |
| Traffic measure afterward | Calls, agent time or another defined measure | Make later proposals comparable |
| First later rate | Price, effective date and how it is calculated | Establish the first ongoing budget |
| Busy-period treatment | Applicable limits, changed rates or other conditions | Evaluate a seasonal workload |
| Changes and exit | Notice, changes to scope and cancellation process | Plan responsibility after the offer |
This is a request for clarification, not a finding that Ability charges an undisclosed fee. The public offer alone leaves these budget fields unresolved.
Specify the contractor work before requesting a quote
Start with three different calls: a new repair inquiry, a customer asking about an existing visit and a request outside the service area. For each, state what the agent should collect and what the office authorizes next.
For a new inquiry, useful fields may include the caller’s requested service, service address and callback number. For an existing visit, the office may need a job reference and the requested change. Neither request automatically authorizes a technician dispatch, a calendar change or a repair-price promise.
Ability describes live reception, transfers, scheduling and dispatch-related services. Those broad labels should lead to plan-specific questions. Which calendar can agents use? Is an appointment confirmed or merely requested? What happens when a team member cannot receive a transfer? Which requests must return to the office?
Treat urgent-call handling separately. A published description of an agent following a protocol is not a verified safety outcome, emergency diagnosis or guaranteed field response. Your office must define permitted wording and identify situations requiring its own approved safety instructions.
Check the records your office receives
Ask for a representative message and a description of the follow-up process. Check whether it preserves the caller’s request, the callback number supplied by the caller and what the agent actually did. A message saying “appointment requested” should not become “appointment booked” during office follow-up.
Agree who owns the next step when a caller cannot be helped immediately. If multiple staff members receive a notification, decide how the office prevents two callbacks or no callback. These are proposed buying checks; this review does not establish specific Ability assignment controls or reporting exports.
Compare Ability and Revo on the same requested outcome
Ability describes live agents. Revo offers an AI receptionist for inbound business calls, with its current plans listing appointment booking, configured scripts, hours and rules. These are different operating models. Revo is not presented here as a provider of Ability’s human staffing or dispatch service.
For a fair comparison, give each provider the same call scenarios and ask for the relevant purchased scope. Compare the resulting message or supported booking, the exception that returns to your staff and the applicable billing unit. Do not compare an unresolved introductory offer with a presumed permanent AI price.
Revo’s current Pricing page identifies its launch offer and included minutes. Review those current terms rather than treating a launch amount as a permanent rate. If the office specifically needs an external human to perform a task outside the verified AI scope, retain that requirement in the decision.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ability advertise $115 per month?
The reviewed offer says $115 for unlimited service with two months free and a 90-day validity footnote. It does not clearly establish a recurring monthly price or the introductory cash schedule. Obtain those details in writing.
What is the price after 90 days?
The footnote says the rate is based on call traffic. The reviewed offer does not establish a numeric later rate or a complete formula.
Does unlimited mean every office task is included?
The word alone does not establish that. Confirm call types, agent actions and account conditions in the proposal before building a budget.
Is Revo the same type of service?
No. This comparison distinguishes Ability’s live-agent offer from Revo’s AI receptionist. Evaluate the tasks and exceptions your office needs each purchased service to handle.
