Home-service answering decisions
Flooring answering service for residential installers
A homeowner asking about new flooring may be ready for a measurement visit, still choosing materials or calling about an estimate your office already issued. Those are different next steps. A flooring answering service should help your office identify the request without turning a phone conversation into a verified measurement, installation quote or confirmed job.

For US residential flooring installers, Revo offers AI answering with your script, hours and rules, call summaries and appointment booking through a supported setup. Define the installation work you accept and the information your estimator needs while your crew is working. Technical decisions and job commitments stay with your authorized team. Review current Revo plans.
Separate the measurement request from the installation commitment
Before using an answering service, decide whether the next appointment is a site measurement, an office or showroom consultation, or a follow-up discussion about an existing estimate. An opening in one appointment type does not establish availability for another.
Ask the caller which rooms or areas they want to discuss, whether this concerns new installation or replacement, and whether they have selected or purchased material. Record the answers as the caller's description. Dimensions or square footage supplied by the homeowner remain unverified until your business completes its own measurement process.
Do not convert those dimensions into an order quantity, waste allowance, material recommendation or labor price. A reception flow also cannot determine whether the existing surface or subfloor is suitable for installation. Your estimator or installer must review those questions.
Use this measurement-request and follow-up register
Copy this proposed register into your office's approved process. It is a planning resource, not a claim that Revo supplies a flooring estimating system or these exact form fields.
| Record | What reception can capture under your instructions | Office check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Contact and property | Name, callback number, property location and caller's role | Service area and who may authorize a visit |
| Requested appointment | Measurement, material consultation or estimate follow-up | Correct appointment type and responsible person |
| Areas involved | Rooms or areas as described by the caller | Actual site scope and professional measurements |
| Measurement status | Not measured, caller-provided dimensions or prior professional visit | Identify the source; do not label caller dimensions verified |
| Material status | Undecided, selected or already purchased, as stated | Product suitability, quantities and responsibility for supply |
| Existing work | Estimate reference or current-job reference if supplied | Locate the correct office record before discussing changes |
| Visit context | Occupied home, requested access discussion and preferred period | Authorized access arrangement and practical visit requirements |
| Next owner | Estimator, material adviser or current-project coordinator | Named person accepts follow-up; request versus confirmed appointment recorded |
Ask only for information the office needs. Do not request entry codes, payment-card details or unrelated household information to complete a preliminary request. A project reference alone does not prove that a caller is authorized to change the work.
Give an existing estimate a different next step
A caller who already has a quote should not automatically receive another initial measurement appointment. Capture the reference and the question: are they asking to discuss the material, understand the proposed work, revisit the timing or request a change? The office should locate the applicable estimate and decide whether a new visit is necessary.
Similarly, a current installation customer's question belongs with the project owner. Reception can record the requested change but should not accept extra rooms, approve a substitution, change the contract price or promise a revised completion date. A clear message is useful even when the required answer must come from your team.
Evaluate answering coverage with three fictional calls
Ask for an authorized demonstration before routing customer calls. Use a homeowner who has not chosen material, another who supplies approximate dimensions and a third who already has an estimate. Inspect whether the resulting summaries preserve those distinctions and identify the appropriate office recipient.
Where a supported booking setup confirms an approved measurement slot, verify the appointment type and next step. Otherwise, capture the preference for staff confirmation. Do not tell a caller an installation is scheduled merely because a measurement visit has been requested.
Revo's pricing page lists appointment booking, summaries and your own script, hours and rules. It lists team transfers for Crew and Fleet; Solo excludes them. Confirm the exact calendar, message delivery and unavailable-recipient fallback for your configuration. No native flooring-estimating or order-management connection is established by this page.
Other models are available. SMA Support publishes a flooring-contractor offering that includes phone answering and broader office support. That describes its scope, not proof that Revo performs its back-office, accounting or insurance work. Choose the guide that matches the work
This page concerns installation or replacement intake and the preparation of a measurement request. For renewal of an existing wood finish, see hardwood-refinishing answering. For a coating applied to an existing surface, see floor-coating answering. Keep those service boundaries in your greeting and approved questions.
Questions before choosing coverage
Can reception estimate the flooring quantity from room dimensions? This workflow records caller-supplied information. It does not calculate an order or replace the installer's measurement and material review.
Can it confirm a measurement appointment? Only through a supported booking configuration using your approved appointment type and availability. Otherwise the office confirms the request.
Can an existing customer approve a material change by phone? Reception can capture the request. Your office must verify authority and accept any change through its approved process.
