Home-service answering decisions
AI receptionist for residential interior design practices
A prospective client asking about a design consultation should not enter the same phone workflow as a supplier calling about a delivery. For a US residential interior-design practice, useful answering begins by identifying the relationship and the decision the caller needs from your studio.

Revo offers AI answering with your script, hours and rules, call summaries and appointment booking through a supported setup. Use it for approved intake and next steps while your designers meet clients or work away from the phone. It does not replace your designer, purchasing coordinator or project records. Review the current plans.
Give three kinds of studio call different destinations
Use this proposed reception map to prepare a coverage discussion. These are instructions your practice would supply, not a claim that Revo includes a design-project management system.
| Caller and purpose | Approved context to capture | Studio owner and boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Prospective residential client | Property location, requested design service, project stage, callback details and consultation preference | Consultation coordinator reviews fit; no acceptance of the engagement |
| Existing client discussing a selection | Client name, project reference, item or room as described, and the question | Assigned designer reviews; no approval of a substitution or specification |
| Vendor or delivery contact | Company, project or order reference supplied by caller, reason for calling and callback number | Purchasing or logistics owner follows up; no order modification or delivery guarantee |
Do not collect payment-card details, door codes or unrelated personal information simply to complete an intake form. Ask only for the context the authorized studio recipient needs. A caller's reference is information to verify, not proof of identity or authority.
Make consultation intake about the services you actually accept
Before activating a new-client flow, write down the residential services your studio offers, the geographic area it serves and which consultation types are available. If your practice wants to ask about a stated budget or timing, approve the wording and the response when the caller is unsure. A budget answer is not a fee quote or a promise that a particular design can be delivered for that amount.
A supported booking configuration may reserve an approved consultation slot. Otherwise, capture the preferred time and identify who will confirm it. Do not describe a requested meeting as confirmed. Keep detailed design discovery and engagement decisions with your team.
Keep selections and purchasing decisions out of reception
Consider a fictional existing client asking whether a different fabric can replace the approved selection. The answering flow can record the item as described, the project reference and the request for a designer's callback. It should not say that the alternative is equivalent, available or approved.
For a vendor asking to move a delivery, collect the proposed change and route the message to the office owner. Do not confirm access, receiving capacity, installation readiness or a revised purchase order. These boundaries make the service useful as reception without presenting it as procurement software.
Evaluate the arrangement before buying
Ask for an authorized demonstration with three fictional calls corresponding to the reception map. Check whether each summary distinguishes a new inquiry, a client decision and a vendor message, and whether the correct office recipient owns the next step. A successful greeting alone does not demonstrate that distinction.
Team transfers are listed on Revo Crew and Fleet; Solo excludes them. Your receiving team still needs an unavailable-person fallback. Do not assume a native connection to design, purchasing or project-management software. Confirm the exact supported calendar and delivery workflow before relying on it.
There are other service models to consider. Smith.ai's interior-design page describes AI and live receptionist arrangements, including consultation handling. That is evidence of its published offering, not a Revo feature or a performance comparison. If you need a person to conduct a nuanced design conversation, evaluate that requirement explicitly. Reception for a studio, not remodeling administration
This workflow separates consultation intake, client selection questions and vendor messages. For a contractor collecting construction scope, estimate questions and change requests, use the separate remodeling answering guide. Neither workflow authorizes reception to approve professional work or a project change.
Questions from residential studios
Can Revo recommend finishes or approve a selection? This proposed setup is for answering and intake. Design recommendations and approvals remain with your authorized studio team.
Can it update an order or verify stock? This page establishes no purchasing-system connection or order authority. Capture the question for the person who can verify and act on it.
Can it book a consultation? Revo lists appointment booking. Confirm the supported calendar, consultation type and rules; otherwise use a request-and-confirm workflow.
Next step: Review Revo's plans. Bring your three call categories, approved questions and office recipients so the team can assess the supported setup for your residential practice.
