Reception buying decisions
TelAssist answering service: what does the base price include?
A contractor evaluating TelAssist should distinguish its live answering subscription from broader call-center or help-desk work. Its lowest published base includes no minutes, so a useful budget starts with the expected handled workload rather than treating the base as included answering usage.

Read the current plan table as separate components
| Plan on TelAssist pricing | Monthly base | Included minutes | Additional minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start | $47 | 0 | $1.37 |
| Grow | $177 | 125 | $1.30 |
| Connect | $296 | 225 | $1.28 |
The table describes live reception, message delivery and account access. The inquiry form on the same page displays different rates; do not combine those figures with this table. Obtain the dated applicable quote, billing rules and any initial, number, tax or additional-service charges before relying on a total.
For a hypothetical 100 billable minutes, Start's table arithmetic is $47 + 100 × $1.37 = $184. Grow remains $177 at that workload before other charges. This is a rate illustration, not a recommended plan or a complete account quote. It assumes both plans cover the same required work and that the quoted billable-minute definition produces exactly 100 minutes.
Separate answering from broader support
TelAssist's service catalogue includes more than ordinary phone reception. Ask which work belongs to the selected answering package and which needs a different proposal. A live receptionist taking a service inquiry does not automatically resolve technical support, process an order or administer your job-management system.
| Contractor requirement | Quote evidence to obtain |
|---|---|
| New residential inquiry | Required fields and delivered message |
| Caller needs an employee | Transfer sequence, unanswered result and billable time |
| Existing-job question | Authorized information versus question retained for your office |
| After-hours request | Applicable coverage and the person responsible for action |
| Broader help-desk work | Separate scope, authority, system access and charges |
Evaluate the retained office workload
A fictional roofing office receives a question about an estimate already issued. Ask for a demonstration using fictional details. Inspect whether the answering agent records the question, reaches the authorized employee or performs another specifically purchased action. Do not assume the agent may revise the estimate or promise a crew date.
Record who reads the message, who decides and what happens when that employee is unavailable. Keep this work in your comparison even if the answering provider offers many delivery channels.
