FieldEdge answering: a lead or a confirmed booking?

A FieldEdge answering service can capture an inquiry without creating the appointment your customer thinks was booked. Before choosing a provider, establish the exact record it creates, who confirms the visit and what the caller hears while that confirmation remains pending. The word integration does not answer those questions.

Resolve the difference in published descriptions

FieldEdge’s September 15, 2026 announcement describes a direct Free2Grow integration and automatic appointment booking. Free2Grow’s more specific FieldEdge page describes recognizing returning callers, collecting request details and creating a lead for CSRs to confirm. It also describes seeing later lead-to-job or quote changes.

Those descriptions do not establish one universal behavior for every account. Ask both companies which workflow applies to your proposed configuration today. Treat the difference as an unresolved scope question, not proof of a malfunction or a reason to silently pick the more expansive claim.

Decide what a caller may be told

Your office should write two approved outcomes. For a lead-only path, the message can say the request is awaiting office confirmation. For a supported booking path, confirmation requires the authoritative appointment or job to exist with the correct customer, location and time.

Ask the provider to show the created record during a demonstration. Read the type and status rather than relying on a calendar-shaped screen or a verbal assurance. If staff must review availability before converting the lead, include that work in the proposal’s operating scope.

Use a lead-to-job evidence card

Fictional case: an existing customer calls about a repair at a second property. Record the caller match, selected service address, request reference, created record type, assigned CSR and next action. Then ask the authorized CSR to accept or decline the request through the proposed workflow.

Inspect what the answering system learns after the change. If the lead becomes a quote rather than a job, check that no appointment confirmation is sent. If the office declines the request, identify who tells the customer and which pending work remains. Do not infer this from a general claim about synchronization.

Keep a simple state ledger: request received; lead created; office decision pending; accepted job or quote; customer informed; exception owner. These are proposed review states, not documented FieldEdge API statuses. A record that cannot be reconciled stays pending for its owner.

Compare direct integration with an office handoff

A separate answering service can still be useful when your office wants approved intake and a clear callback request. Compare that actual scope with direct software actions rather than calling every path an integration. The important purchasing question is which work the office retains.

Revo’s Services and Pricing pages describe its general answering offer and plan boundaries. This article does not establish a Revo–FieldEdge connector. Ask Revo whether the proposed setup captures a request, writes a particular record or supports confirmed booking; require the corresponding evidence.

Use the same fictional second-property request for every finalist. Select only after the record, customer wording and remaining CSR work agree. Do not compare prices as if lead capture and completed booking were identical services.

Common questions

Make the next step clear.

Resolve the details that matter to your team and callers.

Does direct integration always mean automatic booking?

No. Confirm the record type, confirmation responsibility and current configuration. The reviewed FieldEdge and Free2Grow descriptions differ in scope.

Can a lead be described as a confirmed appointment?

Only when the separate booking action has actually completed and its details have been verified. A lead awaiting CSR review should remain a request.
