Landline forwarding

Forward landline calls to an answering service

Forwarding a landline depends on the fixed-line provider and account features. Traditional home phone, business voice and hosted phone services can have different controls, so begin with the actual service type.

01 / Landline forwarding

Identify the account and available controls.

Check which provider supplies the number and whether the account is traditional fixed-line, digital voice or a hosted business system. Confirm that call forwarding is available for that service. Instructions for a wireless phone do not establish how a fixed-line account works.

A business phone system may manage routes through its own administrator settings rather than a handset code. Identify the authorized account owner or administrator before making changes. Confirm whether the goal is to forward every call or only calls not answered by the office.

02 / Landline forwarding

Confirm the destination and caller behavior.

Obtain the answering destination through the supported Revo setup. Ask the fixed-line provider about any forwarding restrictions, charges and interaction with voicemail. Do not enter a destination copied from a generic tutorial or apply a wireless activation code to the account.

Forwarding changes the call route, not the availability of the field team. The receiving script should still match your office hours, accepted work and follow-up rules. Review those details before sending customer calls to the answering service.

03 / Landline forwarding

Test and retain the original configuration.

Document the existing routing and voicemail arrangement. Use the provider’s current instructions to make an authorized change, then test from another number. Check that the intended line rings or forwards as configured and that the caller reaches the expected answering experience.

If the receiving destination is unavailable, the fallback should remain understandable to the caller. Keep the fixed-line provider’s deactivation instructions available. After any rollback, check the original ring and voicemail path rather than relying only on a confirmation tone or settings screen.

Common questions

Make the next step clear.

Resolve the details that matter to your team and callers.

Can I use mobile forwarding codes on my landline?

Do not assume that. Follow the fixed-line provider’s instructions for the specific service and account.

Will forwarding also confirm service appointments?

Forwarding only routes calls. Appointment confirmation depends on the answering configuration and your business’s booking rules.

Check the fixed-line service before changing its route.
