Call forwarding cost: separate carrier and service bills
Check call forwarding cost for a home-service number by separating carrier usage, destination charges and the answering service’s own billing rules. Published by Revo. The scenarios below are planning examples, not measured customer results.
| Charge | Inputs to record | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier feature | Period and recurring fee | Current carrier plan |
| Forwarded usage | Chargeable units, allowance and rate | Carrier detail and terms |
| Destination | Applicable destination rule | Carrier destination terms |
| Answering | Base, allowance and usage | Answering proposal and records |
| Transfer | Event, supplier and rate | Transfer terms and event log |

There is no universal forwarded-call rate
AT&T’s wireless support page says forwarded calls are billed for their duration and that long-distance or roaming charges may apply. Those statements concern that provider’s wireless service. They do not establish the price of forwarding on another plan, a landline or a hosted business system.

Put the two suppliers on separate lines
A roofing office may keep its advertised number with a carrier while sending unanswered calls to an answering service. Ask the carrier about the forwarded portion and the answering provider about its own billable usage. An included allowance at one supplier does not prove that the other supplier charges nothing.
Keep setup charges, recurring features and usage in separate worksheet fields. If the answering service later transfers the caller, ask how that event is counted too. Do not assume a transferred conversation is free merely because the initial forwarding feature was included.

Build a worksheet without assumed rates
Create one row per supplier and charge type. Enter the confirmed period, allowance, unit and rate from the applicable plan. Leave an unknown field blank until the account owner obtains the terms; do not substitute a market average or a made-up forwarding rate.
Add a recurring carrier feature charge once per applicable period. Calculate only the carrier usage that is actually chargeable under that plan, accounting for any included allowance. Add destination-dependent charges only when the documented destination rule applies. Separately calculate answering-service usage and any transfer charges, checking that the same event is not counted twice.

Resolve the unanswered billing questions first
Ask for the current plan documentation and a worked example using your proposed destination. Identify who bills each event, what counts against an allowance and whether destination or location changes affect the rule. Recheck the first invoice against the call records after an authorized setup.
Revo’s plan price does not establish your carrier’s forwarding charges.
Common questions
Make the next step clear.
Resolve the details that matter to your team and callers.
Does free activation mean every forwarded call is free?
No. Feature activation and usage can have different billing terms.
Can I calculate cost from the number of calls alone?
Only if the relevant supplier bills by call and the rules are known. Duration-based charges need the applicable chargeable duration.
